HACIENDA CUSIN

Hacienda Cusin was founded in 1602 and remains as one of the oldest haciendas in Ecuador. Today it is a country inn consisting of 25 comfortable and beautifully decorated guest rooms, suites and cottages. Each room has been carefully designed to preserve the hacienda's historic ambience. The Hacienda Cusin is situated 90 minutes north of Quito, in the famous Otavalo Region close to San Pablo de Lago and surrounded by the mountains of Cotocachi, Imbabura, and Mojanda.

This property consists of 40 acres of gardens open pastures and farmland. It's location allows for easy access to the towns of Otavalo, Cotacachi and San Antonio de Ibarra. The Main House consists of a cozy bar and dining room where you’ll be served delicious typical Ecuadorian dishes. There are beautiful gardens with over 58 species of plants and flowers and 49 species of birds. The Hacienda Cusin is the perfect choice for travellers wishing to experience the countryside in a traditional Ecuador hacienda.

Activities

• Archaeology - Cochasqui, 800 A.D, 20 earth pyramids, 40 minutes from Cusín. Guided tours in Spanish.
• Climbing - Hills and mountains: El Lechero, Cubilche, Mojanda, Fuya Fuya, Imbabura, Cayambe (ice climb) and Cotacachi.
• Fishing - Lago San Marco (trout)
• Markets - Local culture and great shopping. The Otavalo craft market is open daily 8am–4pm but largest market is on Saturday. Bustling produce market daily, 7am–3pm. Every Saturday is Otavalo’s animal market, 7-10am. Peguche local market, Saturday 7am-3pm.
• Museums - Museo Arqueologico Vasquez Fuller in Otavalo at Montalvo and Roca
• Paramo - El Angel Paramo, a unique landscape, "Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs". 90 minutes north of Cusín – 1-2 day excursions.
• Walking/Hiking Cubilche, Laguna Cuicocha, Gualavi, Imbabura, Lago San Marco, Mojanda, Quebrada, Rinconada, Zuleta, and many more.
